In Chatmohar, Pabna, the local police have arrested a teenager named Sohan Hossain (14) on charges of raping a 5-year-old child.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, October 24, in Hatatpara village, located within the upazila’s Gunaigachha Union. The accused, who is the son of the late Farid Hossain from the same village, lured his young neighbor to his home by promising her chocolate, and subsequently raped her.
Following the incident, the child’s mother filed a case at the Chatmohar Police Station around 10:00 PM on Saturday, October 24.
According to the case details and local sources, the child was playing in a courtyard near her home on Saturday afternoon when Sohan, a neighbor, enticed her with the offer of chocolate and took her to his house. Taking advantage of the fact that no one else was home, Sohan raped the child. When the child’s relatives heard her crying and approached the house, Sohan fled the scene. The child’s mother subsequently filed a case under the Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act, leading the police to conduct an operation late that night and apprehend Sohan.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatmohar Police Station, Oliur Rahman, stated that the child was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre in Pabna on the morning of Sunday, October 25, for a medical examination.
