A thief, identified as Saidur Rahman alias Amal (40), died tragically from electrocution while attempting to steal electric wires in Parbatipur upazila, Dinajpur.
The incident occurred early Wednesday morning (October 7, 2026) when Saidur climbed an electric pole in the Nayapara area of the municipal town to cut live wires, causing him to fall dead into a nearby paddy field while his accomplices fled.
The deceased, son of Babu Hossain from Ibrahim Nagar Mohalla, was known locally as a drug addict and petty thief who had previously served a two-month jail term sentenced by a mobile court for theft.
Parbatipur Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Manik Chandra and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Wadud confirmed the incident, stating that police recovered the body and handed it over to the family.
