
A 26-year-old driver was killed and several passengers sustained injuries following a severe head-on collision between a staff bus belonging to AKH Eco Apparels Limited and a covered van in Dhamrai, Dhaka.
The fatal accident occurred at around 7:30 AM on Thursday (October 8, 2026) in front of the Graphics Textiles unit near the Sreerampur bus stand along the Dhaka-Aricha Highway. The deceased was identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, son of Nur Alam hailing from Badni village in Netrokona Sadar Upazila. According to Golra Highway Police and local eyewitnesses, Siddique was driving the Aricha-bound covered van when the oncoming staff bus collided directly with the front of his vehicle, destroying the cab and killing him instantly. Injured factory workers traveling on the bus were rescued by locals and rushed to nearby hospitals. Highway police cleared the damaged vehicles to restore normal traffic flow, while Dhamrai Fire Service Station Officer Al Amin and Golra Highway Police Outpost In-Charge Selim Matubbar confirmed that an investigation is underway to ascertain liability and potential negligence by the factory bus driver.
