Police in Munshiganj have arrested three individuals and seized a mobile phone used to record a compromising video of a woman without her knowledge. The suspects allegedly used a fake Facebook account to threaten the woman and demand cash and gold ornaments.
The arrested individuals are Md. Fahim Molla (21), Md. Robin Molla (22), and Md. Jisan Dewan (20)—all from the Katakhali area of Munshiganj.
This information was shared in a press release issued by the Munshiganj District Police media cell on Monday (October 26).
According to the police, on the afternoon of October 25, a compromising video of a woman was surreptitiously recorded while she was changing clothes in the Ronch Hawladar Para area, under the jurisdiction of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station. Subsequently, the woman was contacted via Facebook Messenger from an account named "Lamiya Khan." It is alleged that the perpetrators sent the recorded video to her and threatened to damage her social and personal reputation unless she provided cash and gold ornaments.
Following the report of the incident, a team from the District Detective Branch (DB) of Police—led by Officer-in-Charge Istiaq Ashfaq Russel, and operating under the directives of Munshiganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Menhazul Alam (PPM) and the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) Md. Kamran Hossain—conducted an operation.
Police stated that, with the aid of information technology, the three suspects were arrested around 10:30 PM on October 25 during raids across various locations within the Munshiganj Sadar Police Station area.
