Truck Crash Snaps Power Pole in Chandanaish, Leaving 78,000 Without Electricity
Power supply suspended in Chandanaish after a snapped transmission pole triggers repairs.

boldPower supply across Chandanaish Upazila was disrupted early Friday after a truck crashed into a 33kV transmission line pole in the Bagichahat Bazar area along the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway.

The accident occurred around 4:30 AM, causing an immediate shutdown at the Chandanaish power substation and leaving approximately 78,000 customers without electricity.

According to sources from the Chandanaish Zonal Office of Chittagong Palli Bidyut Samiti-1, the 33kV transmission line tripped early in the morning due to a system fault. During a physical inspection of the line, officials discovered that a 40-foot SPC pole by the highway had snapped at its base during the truck collision and remained tangled with the vehicle.

Khandakar Muhammad Azam, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of the Chandanaish Zonal Office, confirmed the incident. He stated that contractors were instructed to replace the broken pole immediately, and repair work is underway using a new pole brought from Patiya. Power will be restored as soon as the installation is complete.

He added that the maintenance work is expected to wrap up by the afternoon, though efforts are being made to restore power earlier if possible. The authority expressed sincere regret for the temporary inconvenience caused by the accident.
