The Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested two leaders and activists of the banned organizations Awami League and Bangladesh Chhatra League during separate special drives conducted in the Savar Model Police Station area. The arrest was officially confirmed by Inspector Saidul Islam of the Dhaka District North DB on Thursday afternoon. The arrestees have been identified as Pulak Sarker (27), who served as the Vice-President of the Dhaka District (North) Chhatra League, and Md. Alam Sheikh (49), the Organizing Secretary of Aminbagh Union Awami League. According to police records, Pulak Sarker is the son of Amrita Lal Sarker and Punima Rani from Ward No. 3 of Sobhanbag, Savar, while Md. Alam Sheikh is the son of the late Babar Ali Sheikh and Mst. Jainab from Paschimpara, Baradeshi, Aminbagh. DB police stated that under the directive of Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Shamima Parveen and led by DB (North) Officer-in-Charge Saidul Islam, special operations were conducted from Wednesday night (September 23) until Thursday night (September 24) to apprehend them. Inspector Saidul Islam of Dhaka District North DB noted that separate raids carried out between 7:50 PM on Wednesday and 2:50 AM on Thursday resulted in the capture of the two leaders of the banned political entities. Necessary legal procedures are currently underway against the accused.
