A mobile court in Nilphamari's Kishoreganj sentenced two Mahendra trolley drivers to three months of rigorous imprisonment in default of a Tk 2 lakh fine each on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) for illegally extracting and looting sand.
Conducted by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Arifur Rahman based on a secret tip-off, the drive in the Nitai Gangber area also resulted in orders to auction off the two seized trolleys and forfeit the illegally excavated land to state ownership, with authorities vowing that similar anti-crime operations will continue.
