Prompt police action led to the arrest of two active inter-district robbers within 24 hours following a brutal roadside robbery in Porsha Upazila, Naogaon. On the night of October 17, 2026, a family returning home from Dhaka by BRTC bus was accosted by 3 to 4 criminals at around 3:30 AM near the Phultola BRAC office on the Saraigachi-Nitpur regional highway. The assailants held the victims—including Bonita (30), her husband Swapan Minz, and children—at knifepoint using a sharp sickle (hasua), making off with a bag of sarees, a gold earring, a silver anklet, and an Android mobile phone.

Acting on directives from Naogaon Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tarikul Islam, a special police team led by ASP (Sapahar Circle) Arup Ratan Sarkar and Porsha Police Station OC Md. Ziaur Rahman utilized CCTV footage and AI-backed technology to track down the suspects. On October 18 at around 5:30 AM, a raid in Dighirhat, Sapahar, resulted in the arrest of Md. Jahangir (38) and Md. Sumon alias Shahin (30), with police recovering a sharp hasua and a knife used in the crime. Police noted that Jahangir has 7 pending criminal cases and Sumon has 13 pending cases against them, while efforts continue to capture the remaining culprits.
