Two officers of the Islami Bank agent branch were severely beaten and injured by criminals who snatched Tk 34 lakh on Tuesday afternoon (October 6, 2026) in Raninagar upazila, Naogaon. The victims—Md. Nazmul (32) and Russel (28) of the Abadpukur agent branch—were returning to Abadpukur on a motorcycle after withdrawing Tk 30 lakh from the Santahar branch and adding Tk 4,000 (or Tk 4 lakh) of their own funds. As they reached the tower area near the Parail bridge on the Abadpukur-Atrai road, four helmet-wearing assailants aboard two motorcycles intercepted them, beat them with iron rods, and fled with the cash bag. Raninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zakaria Mondal confirmed that police were dispatched to the scene, and operations are underway to identify the culprits and recover the stolen money.
