Two people were killed and six others critically injured in a three-way collision involving an ambulance, a HiAce microbus, and an auto-rickshaw in Osmani Nagar upazila, Sylhet, on Friday morning (October 9).

The accident occurred around 8:30 AM in the Chanpur area under Tajpur Union along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

According to local and police sources, a Dhaka-bound ambulance, a Sylhet-bound HiAce microbus, and a Sherpur-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on. The impact killed microbus passenger Suhel Ahmad (47), a resident of Mahamaya village in Chandpur Sadar Upazila, on the spot.

Seven injured individuals were rescued from the scene and rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctor declared Khairul Islam (47), from Matlab Dakshin Upazila in Chandpur district, dead upon arrival.

Sherpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anisur Rahman confirmed the accident, stating that police units quickly responded to rescue the victims and transport them to the hospital. He added that all three vehicles involved in the crash have been seized, and necessary legal actions are currently underway.
