Two women were killed after being crushed by a cement-laden truck in the Balapara area under Gokunda Union in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila. The fatal accident occurred on the Rangpur-Kurigram Highway early Saturday morning (October 10).
The deceased have been identified as Johila Begum (55), wife of Azijar, and Fojila Begum (50), wife of Abdul Karim, both residents of the Balapara area.
According to local sources, the two women went out for their routine morning walk when a cement-carrying truck struck them, killing both on the spot. The tragic incident has cast a heavy pall of gloom over the victims' families.
Confirming the accident, Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saad Ahmed stated that police are investigating the incident and taking necessary legal action.
