Unauthorized Brick Kiln 'Raj Bricks' Fined Tk 1.5 Lakh in Naogaon's Manda Following Media Exposure
The M/S Raj Bricks premises at Jalchhatra junction in Manda, Naogaon, where DoE and district mobile court enforced closure and fines.

A joint mobile court led by the Naogaon Department of Environment (DoE) and district administration fined an unauthorized brick kiln Tk 1.5 lakh for illegally attempting to reconstruct and reactivate operations without valid regulatory clearance.

The mobile court raid was conducted at around 12:30 PM at the Jalchhatra junction area in Manda Upazila, Naogaon. Led by Executive Magistrate Shakil Ahmed, the mobile court targeted M/S Raj Bricks, a brick kiln that had been closed during the previous season. Despite lacking necessary environmental certifications, the kiln management was carrying out unauthorized structural renovation and reconstruction to re-launch operations under a modified name.

During the drive, Executive Magistrate Shakil Ahmed prosecuted the kiln management, levying and collecting a cash fine of Tk 1,50,000. Furthermore, authorities obtained a written legal undertaking from the kiln owners mandating an immediate halt to all reconstruction activities until valid statutory clearance documents are produced. Department of Environment Assistant Director Md. Najmul Hossain served as prosecutor during the mobile court, while security was provided by a contingent from the Naogaon Battalion Ansar. DoE officials confirmed that strict enforcement against illegal brick kilns will continue to safeguard regional environmental standards.
