In a shocking incident in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur, a drug-addicted man allegedly stole his four-month-old nephew from his grandmother's home and sold him for Taka 40,000 to sustain his addiction.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon (October 4, 2026) in Chandrapur village under Mominpur union, where the infant Mahin was sleeping before being abducted by his maternal uncle, Ziarul Islam—son of Monowar Hossain—and subsequently handed over to a buyer named Milon in the Matasagar area of Dinajpur Sadar's New Town. Following frantic family searches and a distress call to the national emergency service 999, coordinated police action led local villagers to detain Ziarul and hand him over to the Parbatipur Model Police Station by midnight on Monday.
