Although two massive projects worth Tk 1,813 crore have been approved for infrastructure development and the rehabilitation of damaged roads in the Rangpur City Corporation (RCC), work will not commence immediately. It is expected to take at least three to four months to secure fund releases, after which implementation will begin. This statement was made by Advocate Mahfuz Un-Nabi Chowdhury Don, Administrator of Rangpur City Corporation, while speaking as the chief guest at a gratitude program organized under the banner of 'Rangpur Nagarbasi' at the Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Monday evening (October 12, 2026).
Addressing the gathering, Administrator Don assured citizens that once the project work officially starts, progress updates will be shared publicly every two months. Emphasizing the importance of civic participation, he noted that the city corporation's annual income over the past five years has hovered around Tk 55 to 60 crore, making it challenging to meet all expectations solely through local revenue. He stressed the need to enhance the corporation's own income by better managing revenue sources like haats and bazaars while working toward the goal of transforming Rangpur into a clean, beautiful, and livable city with employment opportunities for youth.
The reception was presided over by Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Zahir Alam Nayan and attended by prominent political and community figures, including Metropolitan BNP senior member Kawsar Zaman Babla, BNP leader Dr. Nikhilesh Chandra Guha Roy, Jubo Dal Central Committee Vice-President Nazmul Alam Naju, and Member Secretary Atiqul Islam Lelin. Representatives from various social, cultural, and professional organizations welcomed the administrator with floral tributes.
