Villagers of Terania formed a human chain, staged a demonstration rally, and held a press conference at Mominpur Union in Parbatipur Upazila, Dinajpur, protesting a court case filed against the newly formed committee of Terania Mozaharul Ulum Hafizia Orphanage and Lillah Boarding.
Over 200 residents, including both men and women, gathered in front of the institution on Wednesday morning (October 14, 2026). Addressing the human chain, newly elected Committee President Obaidur Rahman, committee member Zainal Abedin, and local leaders Mortuza Ali Bablu and Abdul Hamid stated that the term of the previous committee expired on June 17, and a new committee was duly formed on August 15. Displeased at not being re-elected, former president Abdur Razzaq Sarkar filed complaints with the bank accounts belonging to the orphanage, effectively freezing the funds and disrupting daily meal supplies for the resident orphans. Local villagers are currently pooling personal resources to feed the children.
Speakers further alleged that former president Abdur Razzaq Sarkar misused political influence to retain his position for 13 years despite the prescribed two-year term, and later filed a lawsuit in Dinajpur Court against the new committee. The human chain concluded with a one-kilometer protest march proceeding from the madrasa premises to the local Joshai Hat, where speakers demanded the immediate withdrawal of the lawsuit, warning of larger protests if the issue remains unresolved.
