A 37-year-old woman named Rabeya Khatun died on Saturday morning after slipping and falling while attempting to board a moving train at the Mobarakganj Railway Station in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah. The victim, daughter of Iqbal Hossain from the Khilkhet Zowar Sahara area of Dhaka, was returning home after visiting her sister's house in Kaliganj.
According to eyewitnesses and Station Master Mostafizur Rahman Noyon, Rabeya ignored repeated warnings from onlookers and station staff and tried to board the departing Rajshahi-bound Kopotaksho Express from Platform 1. She slipped under the wheels, suffering severe injuries including the amputation of both legs, a broken arm, and massive blood loss.
Station staff promptly rescued her and rushed her to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where emergency medical officer Dr. Arifur Rahman noted that she succumbed to her injuries on the way to Jashore for advanced treatment.
