The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push in seven people, including a four-member family, through the Sonadanga border in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon and the Koriya border in Joypurhat. However, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully thwarted the push-in attempts.
On Tuesday (October 6) morning, BSF personnel attempted to force four individuals—three men and one woman—into Bangladesh through the Sonadanga (BOP) area of Sapahar Upazila. Simultaneously, an attempt was made to push three men through the Koriya border area of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. Currently, all seven individuals are stranded at the zero line of the border.
Sources confirmed that members of the Atila BSF camp attempted to push the four individuals across the border early Tuesday morning. Upon receiving information, a BGB patrol team from the Sonadanga BOP rushed to the spot and intercepted the illegal entry attempt. The victims of the Sapahar push-in attempt are reported to be members of the same family.
To maintain control over the situation, additional BGB personnel have been deployed in the area, and round-the-clock surveillance has been strengthened with the assistance of local residents.
Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Ehsan Habib, Commanding Officer of the Patnitala Battalion (14 BGB), stated that BSF members attempted to push in four people through the Sapahar border and three people through the Koriya border in Joypurhat. BGB patrol units promptly responded and identified all seven individuals positioned on the zero line inside the border.
He added that BGB maintains a strict alert and strong vigil in the area, and discussions are underway with the BSF to push them back into Indian territory. No illegal entry will be allowed under any circumstances.
