Factory Owner Sentenced to 2 Years Imprisonment for Manufacturing Adulterated Goods in Bhandaria; Factory Sealed, Massive Stock of Goods and Equipment Seized
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Hasibul Hasan leads a mobile court raid on an illegal adulterated consumer goods factory in Bhandaria, Pirojpur, on Thursday.

Upazila administration seized a huge quantity of goods and production equipment during a raid on a factory accused of manufacturing fake and adulterated consumer items in Bhandaria, Pirojpur. Mobile court sentenced the factory owner, Al Amin Howlader, to two years of rigorous imprisonment and sealed off the illegal establishment.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md. Hasibul Hasan led the drive on Thursday (October 8) afternoon at a rented building in Lakshmipura neighborhood under Bhandaria Pourashava.

Upazila administration sources reported that counterfeit and adulterated goods packaged under various brand names were seized during the drive, including Chinigura and aromatic rice, ice cream, ice pops, adulterated honey, and detergent powder. Additionally, various chemicals, synthetic flavors, unauthorized food coloring, production machinery, four refrigerators, and three computers used in producing children's drinks and juices were confiscated.

Al Amin Howlader was detained on-site during the raid. Following his statement before the mobile court regarding the charges, the executive magistrate sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment and ordered his transfer to prison. The factory was subsequently sealed off, and the seized goods were destroyed in public view. Bhandaria Police Station personnel assisted in maintaining law and order during the operation.

Mobile Court Judge and UNO Md. Hasibul Hasan stated that complaints had been received regarding long-standing illegal production of consumer goods and children's food at the site. Based on those allegations, the drive was conducted to seize materials and enforce legal measures. He reaffirmed that anti-adulteration drives will continue in the public interest.
