A 25-year-old woman named Ranu reportedly hacked her 80-year-old mother, Setara Begum, to death with a sharp chopper (boti) in Purba Chandrapur Union under Daganbhuiyan Upazila of Feni. The incident took place on Sunday night (October 25) at the late Abul Hossain's residence in Deilia village under the union. The deceased, Setara Begum, was the widow of the late Abul Hossain.

According to local sources, residents claimed that Ranu is mentally unstable. The gruesome incident has created a sensation across the area. However, the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be determined.
