Over a hundred registered young players returned home disappointed after arriving for the New Kuri Sports 2026 screening in Parbatipur, Dinajpur.

According to reports, under the initiative of the Sports Directorate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh, registration procedures were completed to discover and nurture young sports talents from rural and union levels to national standards.

Registered young players received SMS notifications on their mobile numbers stating that screening activities would commence at Parbatipur Pourashava Stadium on October 27 at 9:00 AM, instructing them to attend with documents. Receiving this message, young players accompanied by guardians gathered at the Parbatipur Pourashava Stadium from morning onwards.

Waiting from morning till noon, no authorities appeared at the stadium. Helplessly, the young players and guardians returned home disappointed.

Regarding the matter, Sara Hasda, mother of student Sharan Bristy Hasda registered as a volleyball and football player in New Kuri, stated, "Receiving the message, we arrived early yesterday morning at Parbatipur Pourashava Stadium with our children, but finding no one there till noon, we returned. Over a hundred boys and girls along with guardians gathered here like me." Stadium caretaker Mozammel Hossain confirmed that parents and children arrived but returned empty-handed as no activities took place.

Parbatipur Upazila Youth Development Officer Anisur Rahman stated, "The text messages were sent from the district level; we know nothing about it. We will be notified following a meeting regarding the schedule." Parbatipur Football Academy Director Shamsher Ali remarked that summoning young players through SMS and making them return is deeply regrettable.
