World Teachers' Day has been observed with various events in Chilmari, keeping the theme "Stand by Teachers, Protect Profession, Enhance Dignity, and Shape Our Future 60 Years".
On Monday (October 5) around 12:30 PM, a colorful rally was brought out from Thanahat Pilot Girls' High School. The rally paraded through the main roads of the upazila, passed by the Government Degree College roundabout, and culminated in a gathering at the Central Shaheed Minar on the upazila premises.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmudul Hasan, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Sajjad Hossain, Principal of Rajarvita Islamia Fazil Madrasa Dr. Minhajul Islam, and Headmaster of Thanahat Pilot High School Taiyab Ali, among others, were present and spoke on the occasion.
During the event, Upazila Nirbahi Officer highlighted the dignity of teachers, stating that the current government will gradually accept and implement various rights of teachers. The Secondary Education Officer said that teachers are the architects of building human lives, and the government has various plans regarding them.
Also speaking at the gathering, Dr. Minhajul Islam said that the primary condition for developing a nation is to bring about development in the education sector. Ensuring 100 percent education is the responsibility of the government, but this work is being carried out by the teaching community. He noted that while the work is public/governmental, it is a matter of great thought why teachers remain in the private sector, and expressed his expectation that all MPO-enrolled schools, colleges, and madrasas be nationalized.
The rally and gathering were hosted by Ziaur Rahman, a teacher at Thanahat Pilot Girls' High School
