Protest singer and songwriter Farzana Wahid Shayan has announced the official release of her upcoming track "Ei Matite Shoman Shob" (All Are Equal on This Soil) on October 14, timed for the forthcoming Durga Puja festival, alongside an emphatic call to the state for equal protection of all religious communities.
Originally composed in 2021, the song features lyrics and tune by Shayan, music arrangement by Shafiquzzaman Shawn, and a music video directed by Suranjit Kumar Rakshit. Sharing her deeply personal philosophy behind the release, Shayan emphasized that growing up in a Muslim family taught her that majority status confers no superiority over fellow citizens of Hindu, Christian, or other faith backgrounds. The artist asserted that soil belongs to humanity rather than any specific religious identity, denouncing communal violence, harassment, and discrimination based on faith. Shayan directed a firm demand to the state, urging the government to actively safeguard the freedom of practice for all citizens, guarantee unconditional security for religious celebrations, and extend heightened care and protective measure toward minority communities facing systemic vulnerabilities.
