“No Contemporary Actor Is Ahead of Me in Bengali Acting”: Ritwick Chakraborty Declares Confidence in TV9 Interview
Ritwick Chakraborty during his interview with TV9 Bangla detailing his perspectives on acting and contemporary cinema.

Unquestionably one of the finest powerhouses of acting across Kolkata's Tollywood and the broader Bengali-speaking subcontinent, acclaimed actor Ritwick Chakraborty has delivered a bold statement regarding his acting prowess.

In a candid interview with TV9 Bangla, when asked to name three contemporary actors who are ahead of him or whom he envies, Ritwick responded without hesitation: "In our time, no one is ahead of me. They are either equal to me or slightly behind. None are ahead of me." When probed about master actors of the past who inspired him, Ritwick paid homage to legendary icons Rabi Ghosh, Tulsi Chakraborty, and Kali Banerjee.

Ritwick also noted a significant paradigm shift in the film industry, emphasizing that true actors are rapidly replacing traditional "heroes." "Conventional commercial films are fading, proving that star heroes alone cannot carry movies anymore. The industry desperately needs real actors; failing to nurture them will only harm cinema," he explained. The actor was praised in September 2026 for Srijit Mukherji's 'Winkle Twinkle' and is currently starring as an extremist opposite Anirban Chakraborty in the festive Durga Puja release 'The Eken: Keralay Kurukshetra'.
