Organized by the advocacy group Jewish Voice for Peace, hundreds of demonstrators staged a sit-in along First Avenue, just blocks away from UN Headquarters. Demonstrators wore shirts reading "Fund People, Not Bombs" and held placards demanding an immediate end to US military aid to Israel and the ongoing military campaign in Gaza and southern Lebanon. NYPD officers moved in to clear the sit-in, detaining 103 individuals—including Sarandon, Einbinder, Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon, playwright Tony Kushner, comedian Caleb Hearon, and author Glennon Doyle. Following her release, Einbinder shared a message on social media dedicating the attention surrounding their arrests to the civilians suffering in Gaza and southern Lebanon.
