
Legendary Indian cinema actor Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday morning (October 8, 2026) after suffering a massive cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. He was 75.
According to Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Head of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, as reported by news agency ANI and NDTV, emergency medical teams performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for 45 minutes after his arrival, but were unable to revive him. Attending physicians officially declared him dead at 5:20 AM. Authorities confirmed that a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) has been filed and an autopsy will be conducted per standard protocol. His son, Malhar Patekar, immediately departed from Pune for Goa upon receiving news of his father's demise. Born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, the actor debuted in 1978 with "Gaman" before rising to iconic status through his fierce screen intensity, distinctive dialogue delivery, and nuanced dramatic performances. A three-time National Film Award winner, Patekar starred in critically acclaimed masterworks including "Parinda", "Natsamrat", "Wajood", "Yashwant", "Ab Tak Chhappan", "Shakti: The Power", "Apaharan", "Taxi No. 9211", "Raajneeti", and the hit comedy franchise "Welcome".
