
Bangladesh recorded 10 more deaths from dengue alongside 1,996 fresh hospitalizations over a 24-hour period, according to the daily bulletin released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday (October 6, 2026).
With the latest casualties, the national death toll from the mosquito-borne viral disease has climbed to 281 for the current year. DGHS statistics reveal that September was the deadliest month of 2026 so far, accounting for 148 deaths, while 36 fatalities have already been logged in the first five days of October. Total hospital admissions for dengue in 2026 have reached 90,356, with 84,299 patients recovering and being discharged to date. Over the past 24 hours, Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new admissions at 861, followed by Khulna Division with 302 cases, Chattogram with 242, Barishal with 203, Rajshahi with 199, Mymensingh with 96, and Rangpur with 75. Health authorities continue to urge citizens to eliminate stagnant water sources and seek immediate medical consultation upon experiencing high fever.
