
Six more dengue-related deaths and 2,089 new hospital admissions were recorded across Bangladesh in the 24-hour period ending Sunday morning, according to the latest press bulletin released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest figures released on Sunday (October 4, 2026), the official dengue death toll for the year has risen to 262, with September alone accounting for 148 fatalities and the first four days of October recording 17 deaths. Earlier monthly breakdowns report 43 deaths in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February. Total cumulative hospitalizations since January have reached 86,458, while 1,865 patients were discharged over the last 24 hours, taking total recoveries to 80,347. Division-wise admission metrics show that Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new hospitalizations with 816 patients, followed by Khulna Division with 330, Chattogram with 324, Rajshahi with 224, Barishal with 203, Mymensingh with 99, and Rangpur with 83.
