BJP Imposes 'Black Emergency' in Capital Over CJP Rally, Alleges Aam Aadmi Party
Heavy security presence and barricades erected across New Delhi as AAP leaders accuse the government of enforcing a 'Black Emergency'.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the Indian central government for imposing a virtual "Black Emergency" in New Delhi to suppress a protest organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Speaking to journalists, senior AAP leader Gopal Rai accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government of turning the national capital into a militarized zone to protect the Chief Election Commissioner. AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj echoed these concerns, cautioning against using force to silence the youth generation and urging peaceful dialogue. The remarks come as New Delhi remains under a massive security lockdown following CJP's call for a "Mahasamavesh" demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Despite police denying permission, thousands of security personnel—including 25,000 police and CRPF troops—have been deployed across the capital, alongside the closure of 57 metro stations, cancellation of 250 trains, and heavy surveillance. Security forces have detained over 1,000 individuals, including top CJP leaders, legal cell heads, and prominent influencer Dhruv Rathee, while AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal pledged solidarity with the movement.
