In a dramatic escalation of security operations in the national capital, Delhi Police boarded an aircraft immediately upon its landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning to detain top Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka.
The three leaders had arrived from Mumbai at 10:19 AM (local time) to lead the party's scheduled "Mahasamavesh" protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police officers boarded the aircraft directly on the tarmac to execute the detentions, triggering a heated exchange captured on an Instagram Live stream broadcast by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. The CJP issued a statement condemning the action as an "authoritarian crackdown" aimed at neutralizing leadership before the demonstration. The airport detentions follow early-morning sweeps across the National Capital Region that saw YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and CJP Legal Cell head Ratna Singh detained from their residences, alongside over 1,000 supporters, amidst widespread metro station closures and train cancellations.
