Delhi Police have detained over 1,000 individuals, including high-profile Indian YouTuber and influencer Dhruv Rathee, as part of a sweeping crackdown against the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) scheduled protest in New Delhi on Saturday.
The CJP had announced a large-scale demonstration at Jantar Mantar at 10:00 AM on Saturday (October 10, 2026), demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Dhruv Rathee, who was slated to participate in the rally, was detained by police in the early hours of Saturday morning from the neighboring city of Gurugram. Law enforcement officers executed widespread detentions across entry points, hotels, and transit hubs around the national capital to prevent CJP leaders and supporters from gathering at the venue. Those detained have been moved to various temporary detention facilities established across the city, as security forces maintain tight surveillance and strict perimeter controls throughout central New Delhi.
