Top leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)—including party founder Abhijit Dipke, spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, and activist Sourav Das—were released on Sunday (October 11, 2026) following their production before an Executive Magistrate at the Delhi Cantt Police Station.
According to CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh, the three youth political leaders were granted bail on the condition that they sign a undertaking promising not to engage in any activity that causes a breach of peace for a period of one year. The CJP leaders had been taken into custody directly from aboard an incoming flight at Delhi airport on Saturday (October 10) during the first day of a scheduled two-day youth movement demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter list process. The detention of CJP leadership and over 3,000 demonstrators—including politician-activists and popular content creator Dhruv Rathee—sparked widespread anger across New Delhi, prompting small-group sit-in protests throughout the capital after security forces heavily barricaded Jantar Mantar. Following their release, CJP celebrated the verdict on social media, declaring that their peaceful movement questioning electoral transparency will persist.
