He noted that while the group may temporarily halt strikes on commercial shipping, there is no guarantee they will not resume attacks abruptly. Stressing that the security of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait is intrinsically linked to Yemen's national sovereignty, Bawazir asserted that restoring state authority and securing the critical waterway are inseparable priorities. The Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a vital 50-kilometer maritime corridor handling nearly 12 percent of global trade, saw heightened geopolitical tension following the Houthis' recent capture of strategic positions, including Mayun (Perim) Island. Reiterating his government's vision, Vice President Bawazir emphasized that the state's struggle is aimed at building a stable, prosperous Yemen with a rebuilt economy, secure families, and functioning public institutions.
