Bangkok Deputy City Mayor Tavida Kamolvej confirmed the casualty and displacement figures during a press briefing, following torrential rains that began on Thursday, September 24, 2026, and triggered widespread urban inundation by Friday. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) subsequently declared a state of emergency across all 50 districts of the capital. Lat Krabang district remains the most severely affected area, with over 40,000 residents stranded, while thousands more face extreme hardship in Bang Kapi, Khan Na Yao, Lak Si, Saphan Sung, and Suan Luang. Over 1,500 bedridden patients have been evacuated to BMA General Hospital over the past three days, prompting urgent appeals for bottled drinking water, mobile kitchens, and rubber dinghies for relief operations. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Deputy Governor Visanu Subsompon stated that drainage teams are pumping water at maximum capacity into key waterways, including the Saen Saep and Prawet Burirom canals, but cautioned that fully clearing residential areas like Lat Krabang could take up to a week.
