Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has declared complete indifference to the outcome of Israel's parliamentary elections, asserting that regardless of whether Benjamin Netanyahu or Gadi Eisenkot assumes the prime ministership, its armed resistance against Israeli military presence will continue uninterrupted.
In a formal written statement issued on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem emphasized that the organization has "no headache" over who governs in Jerusalem. Qassem stated unequivocally that Israeli forces must completely evacuate occupied Lebanese border zones and cease military overflights and strikes before any discussion regarding Hezbollah's disarmament can take place. He further reiterated that as long as Israeli aggression and territorial presence persist, Hezbollah refuses to surrender its weaponry or accept government-backed disarmament plans.
The statements follow a deadlocked election in Israel where, with over 85%–90% of ballots counted, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing coalition holds a slim lead over opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot's alliance but remains short of the 61-seat Knesset majority. Despite a June 2026 framework accord outlining Hezbollah's disarmament, Israeli troop withdrawal, and Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) deployment, ongoing sporadic strikes and Hezbollah's refusal to disarm have kept the bilateral security situation at a tense impasse.
