At least three people were killed and 36 others injured after Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi militia launched targeted drone and ballistic missile attacks against two international airports in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (October 7, 2026).

According to a report released by Reuters citing the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) on Thursday, the strikes hit Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport—leaving one person dead and eight injured—and Abha International Airport, where two individuals lost their lives and 28 others sustained injuries. Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree claimed responsibility, stating the operations were part of a broader offensive against regional aviation infrastructure. Concurrently, Yemen's Ministry of Transport reported a separate Houthi missile attack targeting Aden International Airport, which struck near the runway just minutes prior to a passenger flight landing from Cairo. The strikes follow three weeks of heavy clashes in Yemen surrounding the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the port city of Mocha, where Saudi-backed coalition forces have launched counter-offensives. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that recent hostilities have displaced over 200,000 individuals, exacerbating a critical humanitarian and food crisis across the war-torn nation.
