A light aircraft conducting an instructional flight crashed near the town of Kafr Qara along Highway 65 in northern Israel on Friday (October 2, 2026), leaving one person dead and another moderately to severely injured.
According to reports from the Jerusalem Post and Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical service, the small aircraft came down in an open area and burst into flames, with the fire threatening nearby structures. Firefighters from the Hadera station of the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze. Paramedics treated a 34-year-old survivor suffering from significant burn injuries before transporting him to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. Rescuers worked to extract a second individual who was trapped inside the burning wreckage, but emergency personnel later pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. Israel Police closed Highway 65 in both directions while investigators launched an inquiry into the mechanical or operational causes behind the crash.
