The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will deliver its final verdict in the landmark genocide case filed against Myanmar on November 19, 2026. The United Nations' principal judicial organ issued an official press statement on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, confirming the schedule.
According to the ICJ, the bench of international judges will commence reading the judgment at 10:00 AM local time (CET) at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands. The case was formally instituted in November 2019 by West African nation The Gambia, under the 1948 Genocide Convention.

The military campaign forced at least 730,000 Rohingya to flee across the border into Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, seeking refuge. While UN fact-finding missions concluded that genocidal acts were perpetrated during the crackdown, Myanmar has persistently denied the allegations, maintaining that its armed forces conducted legitimate counter-insurgency operations. Legal experts note that this historic ICJ ruling will establish critical jurisprudence for global genocide cases, including South Africa’s 2023 case against Israel regarding Gaza at The Hague.
