Islamabad Placed Under Red Alert and Section 144 Amid Heightened Security and Political Unrest
Security forces on high alert at a checkpoint in Islamabad following the declaration of a red alert and enforcement of Section 144 on Sunday.

Following escalating political tensions and developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the administration of Pakistan’s capital has enforced a strict red alert and Section 144 across Islamabad, deploying heavy security and ordering police forces to maintain maximum readiness.

According to reports from Geo TV on Sunday (October 11, 2026), armed police personnel have been stationed at all major intersections and entry points throughout Islamabad. Senior police officials—including Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and Station House Officers (SHOs)—have received direct instructions to remain actively stationed in the field.

Under the Section 144 restrictions, any unauthorized public gatherings, rallies, or display of banners are strictly prohibited, with strict directives for immediate legal action against violators. Additionally, paramilitary Pakistan Rangers have been deployed around critical government installations and key national infrastructure. The heightened security posture comes amid ongoing demonstrations by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and growing concerns that protesters from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might attempt a long march toward the capital.
