Israel has officially joined the 18-member Pacific Islands Forum as a sector partner, offering its expertise in water management, desalination, agriculture, and climate change adaptation, the Israeli foreign ministry announced on Wednesday (October 21, 2026). The announcement coincided with a visit to Fiji and Samoa by Eynat Shlein, head of Israel's international aid agency MASHAV.
This partnership follows intensified diplomatic engagement between Israel and the Pacific region, including Nauru opening an embassy in Jerusalem last month and Israel opening an embassy in Fiji earlier this year. Pacific nations have historically been among Israel's most steadfast international supporters, driven in part by deep-rooted religious beliefs and a broader geopolitical contest for influence involving major global powers like the United States and China.
