Pakistan Issues Stern Warning to India Following Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's 'Provocative' Statements

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sharply condemned recent remarks made by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, characterizing them as "dangerous rhetoric" and a direct manifestation of India’s "hegemonic mindset" that threatens peace and stability across the South Asian subcontinent.

Speaking at a weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Saturday (October 17, 2026), Ministry Spokesperson Sajjad Haidar Khan responded to Rajnath Singh's recent public warnings that India would launch even harsher military strikes in the event of any future terrorist incidents originating from Pakistani soil. Khan stated that such provocative threats mask underlying aggression, warning New Delhi that Islamabad’s commitment to restraint and regional peace must never be mistaken for weakness.

Recalling the brief but intense military conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors in May 2025—which erupted following a terror attack in Pehelgam (Jammu & Kashmir) and subsequent Indian missile strikes inside Pakistan, before concluding via a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10, 2025—the spokesperson asserted that Pakistan demonstrated both its capability and resolve to defend its borders. He emphasized that Pakistan remains fully prepared to deliver a decisive response to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any unprovoked cross-border military misadventure.
