The second consignment of enriched uranium fuel for the power plant's second VVER-1200 reactor unit was scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on September 24, 2026. Addressing reports that Pakistan had refused overflight permission, Islamabad’s diplomatic mission asserted that diplomatic flight requests are processed within standard regulatory guidelines and timeline protocols, emphasizing that schedule adjustments stem purely from flight route technicalities between aviation authorities. State Minister for Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam confirmed that Russian state nuclear entity Rosatom expects the shipment to arrive in Dhaka during the first week of October. Built under Rosatom's technical assistance on the banks of the Padma River in Ishwardi, Pabna, the 2,400 MW dual-unit facility formally entered Bangladesh's nuclear power era following initial fuel loading in Unit 1 earlier this year.
