Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held bilateral discussions in New York on Monday (September 21) on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
According to an official statement issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders reviewed core matters concerning the "Makkah Joint Defense Agreement." Both foreign ministers reaffirmed their joint commitment to enhancing military and strategic cooperation under the pact while advancing regional security, peace, and stability.
The security arrangement stems from a bilateral defense pact signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia last year, which expanded into a trilateral alliance—the Makkah Defense Alliance—following Turkey's inclusion last month. During the session, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed firm solidarity with Saudi Arabia and condemned recent security attacks targeting Saudi territory amid ongoing conflicts with Houthi forces in Yemen. Although Turkey is a key alliance member, no representatives from Ankara attended Monday's bilateral meeting.
