Saudi Arabia Orders Remote Work at Landmark 99-Story Kingdom Centre in Riyadh Amid Rising Houthi Attacks
The 99-story Kingdom Centre in Riyadh following the remote work transition directive issued on Sunday.

In response to escalating missile and drone attacks targeted by Iran-backed Yemen Houthi rebels, Saudi authorities have directed all office tenants at Riyadh’s iconic 99-story Kingdom Centre skyscraper to transition to remote work.

In an email notice sent to corporate tenants, office management instructed staff to conduct all business operations from home starting Sunday (October 18, 2026) until further notice. However, the lower-level retail shopping complex of the landmark 99-story tower remains open to the public for the time being.

Simultaneously, the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued a heightened security advisory warning American citizens about potential threats to major Saudi airports following recent strikes on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The US Mission confirmed that flight operations at King Khalid International Airport remain suspended following drone and missile intercepts. While King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam remain open, both continue to experience significant flight delays, sudden cancellations, and airspace adjustments. Citizens have been advised to monitor Saudi Civil Defense emergency mobile alerts and re-confirm flight status directly with carriers prior to travel.
