Continuing its aggressive crackdown on youth-led demonstrations in the Indian capital, Delhi Police have detained student leader Neha Borah, just an hour after apprehending Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke.
According to reports from The Hindu and NDTV, Neha Borah was intercepted by police personnel near the Mandi House Circle on Friday (October 16, 2026) while leading a procession of supporters holding national flags toward Central Park in Connaught Place.
The CJP has been spearheading sustained protests demanding the resignation of India's Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, over allegations of systematic voter-roll manipulation favoring the ruling government—including claims that 70 lakh voters were scrubbed in West Bengal before assembly polls. Friday's planned flag-hoisting rally at Central Park was organized to protest the earlier arrests and five-day remand of CJP co-founders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. With both Abhijeet Dipke and Neha Borah now in police custody, law enforcement has tightened cordons across key protest hubs in New Delhi.
