US President Donald Trump Signals Potential Military Strikes Against Houthis Following Deadly Attack on Riyadh Airport
US President Donald Trump speaking to reporters at the White House on Sunday, where he indicated that swift US action against Houthi rebels is under active consideration.

US President Donald Trump has indicated a potential shift in US military policy, stating that Washington is actively considering military action against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen following a devastating missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

After remaining hesitant to directly engage in the ongoing two-month escalation between the Saudi-led coalition and Houthi forces, President Trump signaled a firm change in posture on Sunday (October 11, 2026). The shift follows Saturday's missile strike on a crowded terminal at Riyadh’s primary international hub, which resulted in 12 deaths—including one American citizen, two Bangladeshi expatriates, and nationals from Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan—alongside 309 injuries.

Responding to journalists regarding whether the US would take a more active role in military operations against the Houthis, Trump stated, "Probably, we are looking into it. We just learned about the recent attack, so considering the situation, we will make a decision. We will take action swiftly." Trump added that he would hold direct discussions with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The developments come as the Houthis declared a strict ban on commercial aircraft entering Saudi Arabian airspace, exempting only flights serving the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
