The operation was conducted around 9:30 AM during a routine traffic inspection in the Badda zone. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media and Public Relations) Md. Akhtar Hossain reported that traffic officers signaled a CNG autorickshaw to stop for verification. Upon stopping, a passenger inside the vehicle hastily fled the scene, raising immediate suspicion among the officers on duty. A thorough search of the autorickshaw led to the recovery of 144 bottles of contraband liquor concealed inside. The driver, identified as 47-year-old Shafiqul Islam, was arrested on the spot. DMP officials confirmed that legal proceedings and a formal case against the driver are currently underway at the local police station.
