A 25-year-old air conditioner technician died on Tuesday morning following an AC compressor explosion at a repair workshop in Dhaka's Naya Paltan area.
The fatal accident occurred around 10:30 AM at 'MI Engineering Plus,' a repair shop located in Naya Paltan. The deceased was identified as Jibon Barman, son of Sachin Barman from Bhatpara Gopalpur village in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. According to the victim's brother, Anik Barman, Jibon was performing maintenance work on an air conditioner unit when the compressor cylinder suddenly exploded, causing critical injuries. Coworkers rushed the critically injured technician to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where attending physicians declared him dead around 12:00 PM. Inspector Md. Habibur Rahman, In-Charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the casualty and stated that the body has been transferred to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. The incident has been reported to the concerned police station for further legal procedure.
