The International Mother Language Institute (IMLI), under the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, announced on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) an extension of the deadline for applications and nominations for the 'International Mother Language Award 2027' until October 30.
According to the official notification, four awards will be conferred on the occasion of Great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day—two in the national category for Bangladeshi citizens or institutions and two in the international category for foreign individuals or organizations. Each recipient will receive a 35-gram 18-karat gold medal, a certificate of honor, and USD equivalent to BDT 4 lakh. Eligible criteria encompass exceptional contributions to mother tongue preservation, revitalization, digital innovation for language protection, research, literary publishing, and cross-linguistic translation. Deadlines require three sets of hard copies alongside soft copies sent via email to IMLI's Segunbagicha office by 4:00 PM on October 30, 2026. Posthumous nominations and repeat recipients are ineligible.
