Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan signed two landmark Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in Bishkek during the Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) platform on Tuesday (October 13, 2026), marking a significant advancement in diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
The agreements—one establishing direct cooperation between their respective Foreign Service Academies and the other outlining a structured 2026–2027 MoFA Joint Action Plan—were signed by Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Ambassador Asad Alam Siam and Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Tursunkulov. Both nations reviewed their bilateral ties across trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, ready-made garments (RMG), IT, education, labor mobility, and parliamentary exchanges while agreeing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.
Following the consultations, Foreign Secretary Siam held a bilateral meeting with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev. Siam sought Bishkek's support for Bangladesh's candidacies for the UN Security Council (2031–2032) and the UN Human Rights Council (2028–2030), as well as cooperation on Rohingya repatriation. Minister Kulubaev expressed deep gratitude for Bangladesh's backing of Kyrgyzstan's non-permanent UNSC seat candidacy for 2027–2028 and extended an official invitation to Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to visit Bishkek.
