Bangladesh is observing the 57th World Standards Day on Wednesday (October 14, 2026) alongside international standard bodies—the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and International Telecommunication Union (ITU)—focusing on product and service quality awareness.

This year's theme, "Shared vision for a better world—Affordable and Clean Energy," strongly aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7. To mark the day, the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) organized a central discussion meeting at the Officers' Club in Dhaka at 10:50 AM. Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Textiles & Jute Khandakar Abdul Muktadir attended as Chief Guest, alongside Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Abdun Naser Khan and SDG Principal Coordinator Prof. Dr. S.M. Abdul-Awal. FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque delivered the keynote address, presided over by BSTI Director General (Secretary) Kazi Imdadul Hoque.

Highlighting national infrastructure capabilities, BSTI revealed that out of 4,631 total Bangladesh Standards (BDS) formulated to date, 79 national standards have been specifically established for renewable energy components, including solar panels, inverters, charge controllers, and batteries. Furthermore, BSTI's headquarters features a state-of-the-art solar testing laboratory equipped with German Sun-Simulator technology, capable of testing solar panels up to 1,000 Watts capacity to ensure compliance with international specifications.
